KASTO: over 180 years from Achern

KASTO was founded in 1844 in Achern, Germany, and looks back on more than 180 years of company history. Its programme covers three main categories: band saws, circular saws and hacksaws, from compact workshop machines to large-format band saws for blocks more than two metres across.

What we buy from KASTO

We buy saws from the whole KASTO programme. The table shows some known series as examples of what we take. It is not a complete list.

KASTOwinBand saw, straight cut, automaticExample KASTOwin A 5.6: round material to 560 mm diameter, touchscreen control. The series runs from A 3.6 (360 mm) to A 10.6 (1,060 mm)

KASTOmaxcutBand saw, large format (gantry)Example KASTOmaxcut A 20: blocks to 2,060 × 2,060 mm, clamping range 500 to 2,060 mm

We also buy other KASTO series, such as the KASTOhba large-format band saw, as well as older models that are no longer in KASTO’s current catalogue. Give us the exact designation and the year from the nameplate and we place the machine.

Overhaul or sell?

Before you decide to sell, consider the alternative. With KASTOretrofit, KASTO offers a factory overhaul programme for its own saws. It includes, among other things, replacing the control with the current KASTO control concept, modernising sensors, drive and positioning systems, safety upgrades and a mechanical overhaul. KASTO positions it as a cost-effective alternative to buying new for machines with a solid design but outdated control technology, with the work carried out on site; the programme also covers relocating a machine. It makes most sense if you want to keep using the saw in your own plant. If you choose to sell instead, we buy your KASTO saw.

Independent of KASTO

We are not affiliated with KASTO. We act independently as a buyer on the secondary market and assess each KASTO machine individually on condition, equipment and current demand, whatever the manufacturer’s label says.

What we need from you

  • Series and exact designation, year of manufacture
  • Cutting capacity (round and square) and level of automation
  • Photos: nameplate, overall view, saw head or blade, control panel and material feed

The more complete the information, the more accurate the estimate. A maintenance log, the manual and the date of the last band, blade or guide change are not required, but they help.

The process

  1. You send the data and photos.
  2. The offer usually follows 24–48 hours on working days after we have all the details.
  3. Direct purchase: bank transfer before pickup; no machine leaves your site without confirmed payment. We organise dismantling and transport; the offer states upfront whether those costs are included.

The whole process usually takes 7 to 15 working days on a direct purchase. An urgent on-site visit takes place, usually within 48 to 72 hours on working days. If you are in the UK, Ireland or the Benelux countries, see selling from the UK, Ireland and the Benelux countries. That is general information, not tax advice.

KASTO builds both band saws and circular saws. Type-specific value factors are on Sell a band saw and Sell a cold saw. For a first idea of what drives the value of your machine, read What is my metal saw worth?.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you buy older KASTO saws?

Yes. Year of manufacture alone is not a reason to decline. What counts is condition, equipment and current demand on the used market. Send the series, year, cutting capacity and photos and you receive an estimate.

Is MBR affiliated with KASTO?

No. We act independently as a buyer on the secondary market and assess each KASTO machine individually, regardless of series or year. We are not a KASTO dealer and have no authorisation from KASTO.

What is the difference between KASTOretrofit and selling to you?

KASTOretrofit is a factory overhaul programme from KASTO itself, meant for companies that want to keep using their saw. If you want to part with the machine instead, we buy it. Which route suits you depends on whether you still need the capacity or want to release it.

Which KASTO series do you buy?

All three categories KASTO builds: band saws (for example KASTOtec, KASTOwin, KASTOtwin, KASTOssb or the large-format KASTOmaxcut), circular saws (for example KASTOspeed or KASTOflex) and the compact hacksaw KASTOhbs. Give us the exact designation from the nameplate and we place your machine correctly.

Do you buy KASTO saws that are faulty or shut down?

Yes, as long as the basic machine is sound. A KASTO saw that has been shut down or has a minor fault often still has value as a source of spare parts or after a manageable repair. Describe the condition honestly with photos and we assess it case by case.

How quickly do I get an estimate for my KASTO saw?

Usually within 24 hours on working days once we have the series, year, cutting capacity, level of automation and clear photos. The offer usually follows 24–48 hours on working days after we have all the details.

Do you organise dismantling and transport of my KASTO saw?

Yes. We organise dismantling and transport. Whether those costs are included is stated in the offer upfront. Direct purchase: bank transfer before pickup; no machine leaves your site without confirmed payment.

What is my KASTO saw worth?

That depends on series, cutting capacity, level of automation, control and condition. We deliberately give no flat price range, because we have no reliable public market data for KASTO saws. The full list of value factors is in our guide What is my metal saw worth?.

Do you buy my KASTO saw?

We buy your machine. Sale through our buyer network: commission stated upfront; you are paid before pickup.
