Sell DMG MORI: series with demand and what drives their value

Non-binding first estimate, usually within 24 hours on working days. Direct purchase: payment before pickup. A service by MBR — active since 2020 in 15+ countries.

If you want to sell a CNC milling machine, CNC lathe, or machining center from DMG MORI, you’ll get a free, no-obligation indicative value. DMG MORI is one of the highest-liquidity brands in the used machine tool market internationally: what you decide to sell today has an active buyer tomorrow.

5-axis milling machines — DMU series

The DMU line is the most requested in the DMG MORI catalog and shows the strongest price stability on the international used market. Universal 5-axis milling machines with swivel-rotary table design, running Heidenhain or CELOS controls.

  • DMU 50 / DMU 50 3rd Generation: a widely deployed 5-axis machine. High liquidity, broad pool of end buyers.
  • DMU 60 ecoLine / DMU 60 monoBLOCK: the monoBLOCK structure offers more rigidity and value than the ecoLine.
  • DMU 70 / DMU 75 monoBLOCK / DMU 85 / DMU 95 monoBLOCK: mid to upper segment with very good value retention. The DMU 75 monoBLOCK is especially prized in high-precision moldmaking.
  • DMU 125 / DMU 160 U duoBLOCK / DMU 210 FD: large format. The duoBLOCK series (B-axis integrated into the spindle) is the reference in aerospace and energy. We also sell these high-value machines through our buyer network.
  • DMC 160 U duoBLOCK: the reference universal machining center for large parts in the energy and aerospace sectors.
  • DMU 65 FD / DMU 85 FD / DMU 125 FD (FD = mill-turn): premium multitasking, steady demand in aerospace and energy.

Valuation by DMG MORI model

For the DMU 60 monoBLOCK, DMC 160 U duoBLOCK, NHX 4000, NHX 8000, NHX 10000, CTX beta 800, NTX 2000, NT4250, NT4300 and DMC 635 V we have no reliable public price range: on used-machinery marketplaces (as of October 2026) these models show only a few listings with an open price, and the prices quoted relate to individual machines of different build years and configurations. A range cannot be derived from that reliably. The value is driven by build year, control (CELOS, Heidenhain or Siemens), spindle hours and spindle condition, equipment and machine condition. First assessment after receiving your details.

The same applies to the DMU 50, DMU 75, DMU 160 U duoBLOCK and NLX 2500 SY, because most listings there also state no price. Value factors and, where available, asking prices are in the model guides.

CNC lathes — CTX, NLX, CLX, NEF lines

DMG MORI’s CNC lathes cover everything from small-part series production to high-performance multitasking:

  • CTX beta 500 / 800 / 1250: Gildemeister’s reference production lathe. Wide installed base, high liquidity.
  • NLX 2500 / 3000 SY: Mori Seiki’s high-performance CNC lathe with Y-axis, sub-spindle, and driven tools. Excellent value retention.
  • NTX 1000 / 2000: reference multitasking. Full milling plus turning, steady demand in automotive and aerospace.
  • NT4250 / NT4300: large-format multitasking lathes for long, large-diameter parts. Energy, marine, and aerospace sectors.
  • CLX 450 / 550: DMG MORI’s entry-level range, high market turnover thanks to a good price-performance ratio.
  • NEF 400 / 600: Gildemeister production lathes, widely deployed across industry.

Selling a DMG MORI CLX 450

The CLX 450 is DMG MORI’s compact universal lathe in the entry segment and handles workpiece diameters up to 400 mm. In its standard form it is a pure CNC lathe, not a machining center. We usually buy on our own account, with no commission on a direct purchase: offer once all information is in, payment by bank transfer before pickup (direct purchase), and we organise dismantling and transport.

There is no reliable public price range for the CLX 450. On used-machinery marketplaces (as of October 2026) most used CLX 450 are listed without a price, and there are not enough priced listings for an honest range. The value of your machine depends on build year, control, automation, spindle hours and condition.

VersionWhat decides the value
CLX 450 V1/V3, base version without Y-axis or sub-spindleBuild year, control, spindle hours, condition of the turret and workholding
CLX 450 V4/V6, with Y-axis, sub-spindle, possibly a bar feederIn addition: equipment (driven tools, sub-spindle) and automation
CLX 450, recent build years, very low running hoursBuild year, running hours and control generation
CLX 450 TC with milling function, possibly with Robo2Go automationHeavily equipment-dependent; valued on request

What drives the price of a CLX 450:

  • Control. According to the manufacturer the CLX 450 is offered with either a SIEMENS or a FANUC control; the current generation uses SINUMERIK ONE with a multi-touch panel. A current control version eases CAM integration and is valued higher.
  • Axis configuration. The V designation (V1, V3, V4, V6) codes the equipment, from the plain base lathe without sub-spindle or Y-axis to full equipment with sub-spindle, Y-axis and driven tools. More axes and a sub-spindle mean more machining in one setup and a wider buyer pool.
  • Automation. A bar feeder (for example IEMCA) for automated bar machining or a Robo2Go gantry for unattended loading widens the uses considerably and lifts the price noticeably over manual loading.
  • Spindle hours. Under roughly 2,000 hours counts as very low, and up to roughly 8,000 hours is normal in production use. Above that, a documented maintenance history matters more than the hour count alone.
  • Condition. A recent accuracy check, the state of turret and workholding and complete documentation are a clear plus on a production lathe like the CLX 450.

The CLX 450 is in demand with small and mid-sized job-shop turning businesses and subcontractors who want a reliable production machine in the mid diameter range without investing in a large-format lathe. Base versions find buyers in one-off and small-batch work, while machines with a bar feeder or Robo2Go are sought by manufacturers running unattended shifts or high volumes. The TC variant with milling adds shops that want complete machining in one setup. A CLX 450 with high running hours or a known defect in the control, spindle or axes is not worthless: it holds value for repair, for spare parts or as a base for a retrofit.

Do not confuse it with the CLX 550, the next size up with a larger turning diameter. The two series are valued separately and their price levels do not transfer, so give us the exact model and nameplate. Pure lathes are also covered in Sell CNC lathes.

To speed things up, read the V version off the nameplate, note make and type of any bar feeder or Robo2Go, gather spindle hours and service records, and send photos of the operator panel, turret and work area.

Horizontal machining centers — NHX series

Mori Seiki’s HMCs are reference machines in automotive, energy, and aerospace production. Their double-pallet system and large magazine capacity make them indispensable on series-production lines.

  • NHX 4000 / 5000 / 6300: the most widely deployed. Double pallet, large magazine, high productivity.
  • NHX 8000 / NHX 10000: horizontal large format for large cubic parts (castings, energy, aerospace). Active international market; we also sell these machines through our buyer network.
  • NH 4000 DCG / NH 6300 DCG: DCG technology (Driven at the Center of Gravity), which reduces vibration and increases feed speed.

Why DMG MORI is so sought-after on the used market

DMG MORI is one of the largest machine tool builders in the world. The German DMG group — already the product of a merger between Deckel Maho and Gildemeister — has worked with the Japanese manufacturer Mori Seiki since 2009; in 2013 Gildemeister AG was renamed DMG MORI SEIKI AG, and the name DMG MORI followed in 2015. That history explains three value factors that persist on the secondary market:

Global support network: DMG MORI has direct technical presence in numerous countries and maintains a broad service technician network across Europe. Any end buyer, in any country, can access genuine spare parts and technical support. This removes the risk of being left without support — the biggest obstacle to buying a used machine.

Mature spare-parts ecosystem: spindles, guideways, drives, and wear parts are available from both the manufacturer and the aftermarket. The large installed base worldwide creates a very active used supply chain.

Heidenhain / Siemens 840D control: the controls DMG MORI uses are the industry standard. An end buyer knows their programmers are already familiar with them and that control support exists independently of the machine builder.

Factors that determine the price of your DMG MORI

Control system: CELOS (since 2013) adds noticeable value to the same machine without CELOS. Heidenhain iTNC 530 or TNC 640 are highly regarded. Siemens 840D SL is the standard on lathes and horizontal machines.

Spindle condition: spindle diagnostics (measuring runout, vibration, temperature) is the single most important factor. A healthy spindle substantially supports the value of the machine.

Spindle hours: under 8,000 hours is excellent. Between 8,000 and 15,000 hours is normal in production use. Over 15,000 hours calls for a spindle inspection to confirm actual condition.

Additional equipment: internal coolant supply through the spindle, large magazine (60, 90, or more positions), HSK-A63 tool holders, and automation systems (Robo2Go, PH series) are all factors that add substantial value.

monoBLOCK vs. ecoLine structure: within the DMU series, the monoBLOCK structure is noticeably worth more than the ecoLine of the same year, thanks to its superior rigidity.

Build year: based on our market observation, a premium DMG MORI loses value noticeably slower than a standard brand of the same build year.

Selling process for your DMG MORI

Step 1 — Indicative value: send us the model, build year, spindle hours, control, and general condition (photos if possible). You’ll receive an indicative value.

Step 2 — Agreement and payment confirmation: if you accept the offer, we confirm the pickup date and the payment arrangement. On a direct purchase: bank transfer before pickup; no machine leaves your site without confirmed payment.

Step 3 — Disassembly, loading, and transport: we organise the whole technical process, including safe disassembly, packing, and transport. You don’t have to organize anything. Whether dismantling and transport costs are included is stated upfront in the offer.

Value retention and demand for used DMG MORI

DMG MORI is a strongly represented brand in the catalogs of European used-machinery dealers.

Based on our market observation, premium brands like DMG MORI, Mazak, and Hermle lose value noticeably slower than standard brands. A well-maintained DMG MORI therefore holds a substantial share of its purchase value even after several years.

On the conventional market, a sale can drag on for several months. With us, the offer typically follows 24 to 48 hours on working days after we have all the details, and from first contact to pickup typically takes 7–15 working days.

“As-is” purchase: DMG MORI with defects or high hours

A DMG MORI with 20,000 spindle hours or a control fault is not worthless. It has value in three distinct markets:

  1. For repair: there’s an active market for restoring damaged DMG MORI machines. Specialized workshops buy damaged machines to rehabilitate them.
  2. For parts: the spindle, linear axes, bed, and headstock have their own market. In a serious failure, the value of the parts can exceed that of the complete machine.
  3. For a retrofit: replacing the control with a modern one (Siemens 840D, Heidenhain TNC 640) on a solid machine bed is a common and profitable move.

Describe the known defect and get a real offer. We don’t lowball out of uncertainty: we assess what the machine is genuinely worth.

Common reasons to sell

  • Workshop upgrade. The old DMG MORI gets traded in against a new machine. We assess the outgoing machine in parallel with the new machine’s delivery time — see Workshop upgrade and trade-in.
  • Plant closure. Entire machine fleets with several DMG MORI units, often combined with other brands — we assess the full inventory in a single visit. See Plant closure.
  • Reducing capacity. Individual machines become available as workload declines, often the oldest or least specialized unit in the fleet — see Idle machine capacity.
  • Insolvency. Our purchase process is designed for insolvency proceedings: payment before pickup and full documentation for the insolvency estate. See Insolvency and machinery liquidation.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is my used DMG MORI DMU 50 worth?

For older DMU 50 machines built 2004–2007, current listings on gebrauchtmaschinen.de show asking prices of €23,000 to €27,500 net (four listings, as of October 2026). For the ecoLine and 3rd Generation with CELOS we have no reliable public price range, because most listings state no price. Spindle diagnostics and the specific configuration — internal coolant supply, extended magazine, pallet storage — determine the exact price.

Do you buy older Deckel Maho or Gildemeister machines?

Yes. Deckel Maho (DMC, DMU, DMF) and Gildemeister (CTX, NEF, CLX) machines from before the 2013 renaming to DMG MORI SEIKI still have an active market — both brands were already combined under DMG at that point. The key factor is the control: Heidenhain adds significant value. For the DMC 635 V we have no reliable public price range; on a machine with an iTNC 530, mechanical condition, build year and spindle hours drive the value.

Do you buy DMG MORI machines with defects or out of service?

Yes. A fault in the control, spindle, or axes doesn't make a machine worthless. It still has value for repair, as a parts source in the used market, or as a base for a retrofit. A DMG MORI with a known defect remains a real asset. Tell us the situation and get a no-obligation offer.

How long does the sale process take from first contact to payment?

The whole process — indicative value, offer, agreement, payment, and pickup — typically takes 7–15 working days for standard machines, from first contact to pickup. You'll have an indicative value after sending us the data. Payment happens before the machine leaves your site.

What's the price difference between a DMG with CELOS and without CELOS?

CELOS (DMG's operating system since 2013) adds noticeable value to the same machine compared to a version without it. It's an app platform for connectivity and production management that buyers actively value, since it lowers integration costs in an Industry 4.0 environment.

Does the Robo2Go or DMG pallet system have standalone value?

Yes. DMG automation systems (Robo2Go, pallet pool, PH series) have their own market. For Robo2Go systems we have no reliable public price range; the value depends on version, build year and condition. We buy them together with the machine or separately if you want to sell the equipment apart.

Do you buy horizontal DMG MORI NHX 4000 or NHX 5000 machines?

Yes. The NHX horizontal machining centers are reference machines in automotive and aerospace production and have very good liquidity. For NHX machines we have no reliable public price range; the value depends on build year, spindle hours, pallet equipment (double pallet) and magazine size.

How do you value a DMG MORI NLX 2500?

The NLX 2500 is Mori Seiki's high-performance CNC lathe with Y-axis, sub-spindle, and driven tools. For the NLX 2500 we have no reliable public price range, because most listings state no price. The control variant and spindle hours are the most relevant factors.

Do you handle disassembly and transport?

Yes. We organise the entire disassembly, packing, and transport process. You don't have to organize anything. Whether dismantling and transport costs are included is stated upfront in the offer. This matters especially for DMG MORI, where many machines require properly draining the internal coolant system as well as technical disassembly of the magazine and automation systems.

Do you charge a commission on the sale?

When we buy directly, we charge no commission. On a direct purchase we charge no commission. There are no appraisal costs or other charges for pickup.

Do you buy complete DMG cells with PH pallet storage?

Yes. We buy complete cells: main machine plus PH 150, PH 300, or pallet pool system, with or without management software. For cells with more than one machine, we carry out an on-site technical visit before the final offer.

Does a DMG MORI with 15,000 spindle hours still have value?

Yes. 15,000 hours on a well-maintained DMG spindle isn't necessarily the end. It depends on the spindle model, lubrication maintenance, and load history. Even with a borderline spindle, the bed, control, and axes of a DMG MORI retain very substantial value.

Why sell to you instead of trading the machine in at DMG MORI?

DMG MORI offers buyback and trade-in — but as a sales tool for moving a new DMG MORI machine. The trade-in value only matters if you're actually buying new from DMG MORI, and in a trade-in the old machine's value typically gets folded into the calculation for the new one rather than paid out to you as a standalone amount. If you don't want to buy new, or you prefer a different brand, that channel isn't open to you. We buy regardless of any purchase intent on your part: straight cash payment, no purchase obligation, regardless of the brand of your next machine — with an indicative value and payment before pickup.
