Hermle C 22 for sale: what the compact 5-axis center is worth
The C 22 is the most compact member of the Hermle C series: small collision circle, small rotary table, but spindle speeds reaching into the high-speed range. That design makes it the preferred choice for small, high-precision parts — electronics, micro moldmaking, medical devices, watchmaking — rather than large workpieces.
Its working envelope is smaller than that of its bigger siblings, the C 32 and C 42. Within its own class — compact 5-axis centers for precision parts — it remains in demand, precisely because Hermle owners tend to keep their machines a long time and used supply is correspondingly tight.

How the price is determined (as of October 2026)
We do not have a reliable public price range for the Hermle C 22 / C 22 U: used Hermle machines are mostly listed without a price, and there are not enough priced listings for the C 22. Value is determined by build year, control generation, spindle variant, hours and equipment. The methodology behind our valuations: What is my CNC machine worth?
What determines your C 22’s price
- Control generation: the Heidenhain TNC 640 is preferred in the German market; the iTNC 530 remains solidly tradeable.
- Spindle condition and variant: a healthy high-speed spindle (Dynamics, up to 42,000 rpm) lifts value noticeably over the standard spindle.
- Equipment: extra tool stations, high-pressure coolant or a pallet system widen the buyer pool to include series producers.
- Documented maintenance: a current inspection report or circularity test counts for more than raw hour count alone.
- Duty cycle: a C 22 from single-shift medical device or electronics production commands better prices than one from three-shift series production.
Typical buyers of a Hermle C 22
The C 22 is sought mainly by medical device machinists, electronics manufacturers and micro moldmakers who need Hermle precision for small parts without requiring the footprint of a C 32 or C 42. The Swiss watchmaking industry has also traditionally been among the end buyers of this frame size. Its compact collision circle further allows use in workshops with limited floor space, where a larger C-series machine simply wouldn’t fit. Compare all Hermle series: Hermle brand hub.
How the sale works
The process follows our Hermle acquisition process: send us the data and photos, initial assessment, an offer after personal review, payment before pickup. We organise dismantling and transport; whether their costs are included in the offer is stated in the offer upfront. Every step in detail: How it works.
If you’re selling the C 22 as part of a shift into medical device production — or out of it — it’s worth a look at our industry page: CNC machine acquisition, medical devices.
