To sell a used Kaltenbach machine, send us the series, year and a few photos. We buy your saw or saw-drill line. You receive an initial estimate. We organise dismantling and transport; on a direct purchase, payment is made by bank transfer before pickup. For the full market picture, see Sell a metal saw.
Kaltenbach: over 135 years of know-how
Kaltenbach looks back on more than 135 years of experience in steel processing. Its programme has three product lines: band saws, circular saws and, as a particular specialty, combined saw-drill lines for structural steel and plant fabrication.
Saw-drill lines: the Kaltenbach specialty
What sets Kaltenbach apart from KASTO and Behringer is the saw-drill line: a combined line that brings sawing and drilling into one operation and removes the need to re-clamp workpieces. It is in demand in structural steel and plant fabrication where the same drilling pattern recurs. Kaltenbach grades these lines in three series by drilling capacity:
| Line | Drilling capacity | Automation |
|---|---|---|
| S-Line | 32 mm diameter | Automatic tool changer (5 positions), NC angle control |
| M-Line | 40 mm diameter | Automatic tool changer (8 positions), simultaneous 3-axis machining on up to 4 sides |
| P-Line | 50 mm diameter | Automatic tool changer (12 positions), movable drilling axis, optional simultaneous sawing and drilling |
Within each line, Kaltenbach band saws (KBS, KBP) are paired with drilling units such as the KDS, KDM and KDP. Kaltenbach also builds a circular-saw variant, the KKS 463 NA with the KD 140 drilling unit, a 4-axis line that drills, mills, marks, countersinks and taps within a 140 × 140 mm working range.
We buy saw-drill lines from all three series. For a line, tell us which saw and drilling unit it combines, and whether the infeed and outfeed conveyors are included.
Band saws and circular saws from Kaltenbach
We also buy the classic Kaltenbach band saws (among others the KBS and KBP series for structural steel, tube and flat material) and the circular saw series (among others KKS and SKL, including fully automatic versions with a CNC rotary table for mitre cuts). Some examples with the capacities Kaltenbach publishes; the list is not exhaustive:
| Model | Type | Capacity |
|---|---|---|
| KBS 400 DG | Band saw | Cutting range 400 × 350 mm |
| KBS 751 AIG | Band saw with automatic infeed, touchscreen control | Cutting range 750 × 500 mm; mitre +60° / −45° |
| KBS 1001 | Band saw | Cutting range 1,010 × 500 mm; mitre +60° / −45° |
| KBP 1301 | Band saw with automatic band-angle control | Cutting range 1,330 × 600 mm; mitre +60° / −50° |
| KKS 461 NA | Circular saw, fully automatic mitre, CNC rotary table | Working range 155 mm |
| SKL 452 NA | Automatic circular saw for aluminium | Working range 160 mm |
Give us the exact designation from the nameplate and we place your machine.
Refurbishment or sell?
Before you decide to sell, consider the alternative. Kaltenbach sells refurbished used machines of its own make: in late September 2026 its website listed two units, a KKS 401 NA from 1998 and a KMR 100 AP from 2008. The refurbishment includes complete dismantling, cleaning and repainting, replacement of the hydraulic hoses, a motor and gearbox overhaul and an upgrade to a Siemens S7 touchscreen control. That shows the scale of work an overhaul involves. Keeping and overhauling your own machine is a fair option if you still need the capacity. If you choose to sell instead, we buy your Kaltenbach machine.
Independent of Kaltenbach
We are not affiliated with Kaltenbach. We act independently as a buyer on the secondary market and assess each machine individually on condition, equipment and current demand, whatever the manufacturer’s label says.
What we need from you
- Series and exact designation, year of manufacture
- Cutting capacity or drilling capacity, and level of automation
- Photos: nameplate, overall view, saw or drilling unit, control panel and material feed
The more complete the information, the more accurate the estimate. A maintenance log, the manual and the date of the last band, blade or tool change are not required, but they help.
The process
- You send the data and photos.
- The offer usually follows 24–48 hours on working days after we have all the details.
- Direct purchase: bank transfer before pickup; no machine leaves your site without confirmed payment. We organise dismantling and transport; the offer states upfront whether those costs are included.
The whole process usually takes 7 to 15 working days on a direct purchase. An urgent on-site visit takes place, usually within 48 to 72 hours on working days. If you are in the UK, Ireland or the Benelux countries, see selling from the UK, Ireland and the Benelux countries. That is general information, not tax advice.
