To sell a used cold saw, send us the make, type and a few photos. We buy your machine. You receive an initial estimate. This covers HSS and carbide-tipped circular saws as well as fully automatic circular saws, whatever the make. We organise dismantling and transport; on a direct purchase, payment is made by bank transfer before pickup.

On German-built machines and in German manuals the cold saw is called a Kaltkreissäge, which helps when you read the nameplate or documentation.

What decides the value of a cold saw

  • Blade type: HSS (high-speed steel) is the established standard; carbide tipping allows higher cutting output and longer tool life.
  • Level of automation: manual, semi-automatic or a fully automatic circular saw with programmable material feed.
  • Mitre range: swivel range for angled cuts, where fitted.
  • Blade diameter and cutting capacity: these define the maximum section the saw can cut.
  • Clamping jaws and control: their condition is decisive for cut accuracy and repeatability.

Automatic circular saw or manual cold saw

An automatic circular saw runs material feed, sawing cycle and cut-to-length under programme control. It suits series cutting and appeals to a wider group of buyers than a manually operated cold saw of the same age. For resale, apart from the level of automation, it matters most whether the control is still supported and spare parts are available.

Brands: Kaltenbach, KASTO and Eisele

Kaltenbach, KASTO and Eisele are among the makers active in cold saws. To help you identify your machine, here are some models with the capacities their manufacturers publish. They are examples, not a closed list.

Eisele is the circular saw brand of the Behringer Group: Behringer acquired Eisele in 2001, the company is based in Weilheim an der Teck and today trades as Behringer Eisele GmbH. Its families are the vertical metal circular saws (VMS, blades 350 to 400 mm), underfloor saws (PSU, blades 450 to 460 mm), high-performance metal circular saws (HCS, blades 250 to 560 mm) and aluminium circular saws (VA-L, blades 450 to 620 mm). This is a separate line from Behringer’s band saws. Pressta-Eisele is an unrelated company.

We buy cold saws from these and other manufacturers according to condition and current demand. We are not affiliated with any of them. See the brand pages for Behringer and Eisele, Kaltenbach and KASTO.

What we need from you

  • Make, type and year of manufacture
  • Blade diameter, cutting capacity, level of automation and mitre range
  • Photos: nameplate, overall view, blade or clamping jaws, control panel

The manual, a maintenance log and the date of the last blade change are not required, but they make the estimate more accurate.

The process

  1. You send the data and photos.
  2. The offer usually follows 24–48 hours on working days after we have all the details.
  3. Direct purchase: bank transfer before pickup; no machine leaves your site without confirmed payment. We organise dismantling and transport; the offer states upfront whether those costs are included.

An urgent on-site visit takes place, usually within 48 to 72 hours on working days. The whole process usually takes 7 to 15 working days on a direct purchase.

The full taxonomy of saw types and the brand overview are on Sell a metal saw. Looking for a band saw instead? See Sell a band saw. To check what drives the value first, read What is my metal saw worth?. If your saw is in the UK, Ireland or the Benelux countries, the cross-border guide explains what changes. FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between HSS and carbide-tipped cold saws?

HSS (high-speed steel) blades are the established standard for cold saws and suit most materials. Carbide-tipped blades allow higher cutting speeds and longer tool life but cost more to buy. We buy both versions.

Do you buy Kaltenbach or Eisele cold saws?

Yes. Kaltenbach and Eisele are both active in cold saws. Eisele is a separate circular saw brand within the Behringer Group, while Behringer itself stands for band saws. We buy cold saws of both makes, and of other makes, according to condition and current demand.

What is an automatic circular saw?

An automatic circular saw runs the material feed, the sawing cycle and the cut-to-length under programme control instead of setting up each cut by hand. That makes it attractive for series cutting and is a strong value factor compared with a manually operated cold saw.

What information do you need to assess my cold saw?

Make and type, year of manufacture, blade diameter, level of automation and mitre range, plus photos of the nameplate, the blade or clamping jaws and the control panel.

Do you buy cold saws with a mitre function?

Yes. The mitre range for angled cuts is one of the value factors we weigh, together with the blade type, level of automation and the condition of clamping jaws and control.

Do you organise dismantling and transport of my cold saw?

Yes. We organise dismantling and transport. Whether those costs are included is stated in the offer upfront. Direct purchase: bank transfer before pickup; no machine leaves your site without confirmed payment.

Do you buy my cold saw?

We buy your machine. Sale through our buyer network: commission stated upfront; you are paid before pickup. We settle the route with you at the initial estimate.
