We buy used Wittmann Battenfeld injection molding machines and older Battenfeld machines: EcoPower, SmartPower, MacroPower, MicroPower and VPower. We usually buy on our own account and charge no commission on a direct purchase. Send us the nameplate and operating data and you get a first estimate; once we have everything, the offer follows; and payment by bank transfer before pickup (direct purchase). We organise dismantling and transport. For the full market, see Sell injection molding machines.

From Battenfeld to Wittmann Battenfeld: one production line, two names

Battenfeld built up a plant in Meinerzhagen in the Sauerland region of Germany from 1954 and made injection molding machines there for decades. On 1 April 2008 the Austrian Wittmann Kunststoffgeräte GmbH took over the injection molding machine business. The result was Wittmann Battenfeld GmbH, headquartered in Kottingbrunn, Austria. Meinerzhagen is now the German sales and service site.

For valuing a used machine this is a useful fixed point: an old Battenfeld nameplate and a new Wittmann Battenfeld nameplate belong to the same production line, not to two different manufacturers. The build year relative to 2008 is still a value factor of its own, because it roughly indicates which control generation and which design level to expect.

The current range: EcoPower, SmartPower, MacroPower, MicroPower, VPower

Under the name PowerSeries, Wittmann Battenfeld currently offers five series:

  • EcoPower: all-electric, roughly 55 to 550 t of clamping force. The electric entry and mid-range series.
  • SmartPower: servo-hydraulic or hybrid, roughly 60 to 400 t. The versatile series for a wide range of parts.
  • MacroPower: hydraulic large machines, 400 to 2,200 t. The series for large-volume parts, for example in automotive.
  • MicroPower: micro molding, around 15 t, for the smallest precision parts with the tightest tolerances.
  • VPower: vertical machines, roughly 120 to 300 t, for insert molding and vertical mold arrangement.

We buy all five, regardless of size or age within the series.

Control: UNILOG B8 and B8X, and older Battenfeld controls

Current Wittmann Battenfeld machines run the UNILOG B8 or B8X, a touchscreen operating system based on Windows 10 IoT. Older Battenfeld machines may carry an earlier Battenfeld control from the B4, B6 or B6P generation. Which control a particular machine has cannot be read off the build year; we check it from the nameplate and the operator panel, and a photo of the panel speeds this up considerably.

Why there are no public prices

For Battenfeld and Wittmann Battenfeld there is no reliable public price data, and we say so openly. On the usual used-machinery marketplaces there are real offers for EcoPower, SmartPower and MacroPower machines in meaningful numbers, but practically all show ‘price info’ rather than an amount. So instead of a made-up range, here are the factors that actually decide the value:

Value factorEffect on the price
Build year relative to 2008Newer machines built after the Wittmann takeover achieve more than older Battenfeld machines of the same size
Control generationUNILOG B8 or B8X is in most demand today; older B4, B6 or B6P controls narrow the buyer pool
Clamping-force classDecides which range of parts the machine can serve, and so who the buyers are
Automation or robotA take-out or automation cell sold with the machine reaches a buyer group more willing to pay

Placing your machine without a public number

With no public figure available, a direct, personal valuation is the only sensible route. That is not a weakness of the offer but the honest consequence of the data. Tell us the series, build year, clamping force, control and operating hours, with photos of the nameplate and operator panel if you can. We place your machine from those details and our ongoing market observation, and give you an estimate that fits your machine rather than a generic series. For how we value in general, see How we value your machine and What is my injection molding machine worth?.

What we need from you

  • Series, build year, clamping force and the control designation
  • Operating hours and, if the control reads it out, the shot count
  • Whether a robot or automation cell is sold with the machine
  • Photos of the nameplate and operator panel
  • Known faults and maintenance history

How the sale works

  1. Send the data. Free and without obligation.
  2. First estimate, based on your data and our market knowledge.
  3. Offer usually within 24 to 48 hours on working days once all information is in. An urgent on-site visit takes place, usually within 48 to 72 hours on working days.
  4. Direct purchase: payment before pickup, then dismantling and transport, which we organise. From first contact the process usually takes 7 to 15 working days. See How it works.

Other injection molding machine makers with a thin public price picture that we also buy: Netstal and Haitian International. If you run a mixed fleet, Engel and Sumitomo Demag have their own pages. A whole plant can be handled in one visit; see Plant closure.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is my used Battenfeld or Wittmann Battenfeld worth?

There is no public figure we could quote you. On the usual used-machinery marketplaces, Battenfeld and Wittmann Battenfeld machines are almost without exception listed under ‘price info’ rather than with an amount. We do not invent a range; we value each machine on build year, control generation, clamping-force class and any automation. Send us the nameplate, build year and operating hours and you receive a personal estimate.

Is an old Battenfeld machine the same brand as a new Wittmann Battenfeld?

Yes, it is the same production line under two names. Battenfeld built up a plant in Meinerzhagen, Germany, from 1954. On 1 April 2008 the Austrian Wittmann Kunststoffgeräte GmbH took over Battenfeld’s injection molding machine business and continued it as Wittmann Battenfeld GmbH, headquartered in Kottingbrunn, Austria. Meinerzhagen is today the German sales and service site. An old Battenfeld nameplate and a new Wittmann Battenfeld nameplate therefore stand for the same machine line before and after the change of ownership.

Which Wittmann Battenfeld series do you buy?

The whole current range, the PowerSeries: EcoPower (all-electric, roughly 55 to 550 t), SmartPower (servo-hydraulic or hybrid, roughly 60 to 400 t), MacroPower (hydraulic large machines, 400 to 2,200 t), MicroPower (micro molding, around 15 t) and VPower (vertical machines, roughly 120 to 300 t). We also buy older Battenfeld series built before 2008.

Which control do Wittmann Battenfeld machines have?

Current machines run the UNILOG B8 or B8X, a touchscreen system based on Windows 10 IoT. Older Battenfeld machines may still carry an earlier Battenfeld control from the B4, B6 or B6P line. The control cannot be derived from the build year alone, so we check it from the nameplate and operator panel; a photo of the panel helps most.

Why can I not find a price for this brand anywhere online?

Because there is no public one. We went through the relevant used-machinery marketplaces: real offers for EcoPower, SmartPower and MacroPower exist in quantity, but practically all of them show ‘price info’ instead of a number. That is not a gap in our research but the actual state of the market for this brand, and it is why a personal valuation is worth more than an online search.

What affects the value of a used Wittmann Battenfeld most?

Four factors, roughly in this order: whether the machine was built before or after the 2008 change of ownership, the control generation (UNILOG B8 or B8X versus older Battenfeld controls), the clamping-force class within the series, and whether a robot or automation cell is sold with it. Give us those four points and we can place your machine realistically.

Do you also buy old Battenfeld machines from before the Wittmann takeover?

Yes. A Battenfeld machine built before 2008 is a regular older machine of the same production line, not a special case. Please check which control is fitted and tell us the build year and the control designation.

Do you handle dismantling and transport?

Yes, we organise both. On compact EcoPower or SmartPower machines the effort is manageable. On a large MacroPower of 1,000 t or more clamping force, hydraulics, temperature-control units and any attached automation are separated properly, and packing and transport are organised. You do not have to run the logistics yourself. Whether the costs are included is stated upfront in the offer.

Do you charge a commission or a fee for the valuation?

No. The valuation is free and non-binding. We buy directly, and a direct purchase carries no commission. Sale through our buyer network: commission stated upfront; you are paid before pickup.

How long does the whole sale take?

You receive the first estimate after sending us the machine data, and an offer once we have all information. On a direct purchase: bank transfer before pickup; no machine leaves your site without confirmed payment. From first contact to pickup the process usually takes 7 to 15 working days; for a large MacroPower with attached automation, an on-site visit can add a day or two.
