Selling your Mazak Variaxis: one of Mazak’s most widely deployed 5-axis centers
The Variaxis series brought simultaneous 5-axis machining to the mainstream: a compact footprint, proven tilting-rotary kinematics, MAZATROL operation. On the used market, a Variaxis i-500, i-600 or i-700 accordingly meets a large, well-informed buyer pool — from moldmakers to aerospace suppliers.
Pricing (as of October 2026)
For the Variaxis i-500, i-600 and i-700 we have no reliable public price range: used Variaxis machines are mostly listed without a price. One current listing on gebrauchtmaschinen.de gives a Variaxis j-500 (build year 2013) at €70,000 net; that is a single asking price, not a market price. Value is determined by build year, control, pallet changer and spindle hours. The methodology behind our valuations: What is my CNC machine worth?
What determines your Variaxis’s price
- MAZATROL generation: SmoothX (from around 2015) is actively sought after and lifts value noticeably over Matrix.
- Rotary axis condition: the tilting-rotary table is the heart of the machine — a documented circularity test is your strongest selling document.
- Automation: a twin pallet changer or PALLETECH cell widens the buyer pool to include series production.
- Spindle configuration: a 12,000 or 18,000 rpm spindle option — the faster variant is the moldmaking argument.
- Tool magazine: 30 versus 80+ stations makes a real difference to production-focused buyers.
Typical buyers of a Variaxis
The Variaxis appeals to a broad buyer pool — from moldmakers to aerospace suppliers — because the proven tilting-rotary design lowers the entry barrier to simultaneous 5-axis machining. Compare all Mazak series: Mazak brand hub.
How the sale works
The process follows our Mazak acquisition process: nameplate, control, hour reading and photos are enough for the initial assessment. After that: offer and payment before pickup; we organise disassembly and transport. Details: How it works.
