To sell a used metal band saw, send us the make, type and a few photos. We buy your band saw. You receive an initial estimate. We organise dismantling and transport; on a direct purchase, payment is made by bank transfer before pickup. This applies to horizontal and vertical band saws, semi- and fully automatic versions and mitre band saws, whatever the make.

What decides the value of a metal band saw

  • Band guides: condition of the guide jaws or rollers. Wear shows directly in cut quality and is a central inspection point.
  • Band tension: working automatic or manual tensioning, without which a clean cut is not possible.
  • Hydraulics: condition of cylinders, hoses and oil. Lowering speed and leak-tightness are good indicators.
  • Feed: smooth, adjustable saw feed without juddering or delay in the sawing cycle.
  • Material feed: presence and condition of the roller conveyor or gripper feed on automated machines.
  • Horizontal or vertical: horizontal saws dominate high-volume cutting of round and square sections; vertical saws suit freehand and contour cuts.
  • Mitre capability: swivel range of the saw head and repeatability of the angle setting.
  • Control generation: whether spare parts and software updates are still available.
  • Cutting capacity: maximum round and square section, which defines the buyers the machine appeals to.

Semi-automatic or fully automatic

Level of automation is a strong value factor for band saws. A fully automatic machine with a programmable sawing cycle and automatic material feed suits series cutting and appeals to a wider group of buyers than a manually operated machine of the same age. That does not make semi-automatic or manual band saws unsellable. They simply meet a different buyer, often a smaller workshop.

Identifying your band saw: example models and capacities

To help you place your machine, here are some models with the capacities their manufacturers publish. They are examples, not a closed list; we buy other series and other makes too.

The KASTOtec and KASTOwin series span several sizes, so the figures apply to the model named. Check the nameplate and send us the exact designation.

Makers we see on the used market

We buy band saws from the common manufacturers, including KASTO, Behringer and Kaltenbach. Each has its own page: KASTO, Behringer and Kaltenbach. We are not affiliated with any of them and assess each machine independently.

If an overhaul is an option for you, weigh it before a sale. KASTO offers KASTOretrofit for its own saws and Behringer a general overhaul in its own works; the metal saw overview compares the options. If selling is the better choice, we buy your band saw.

What we need from you

  • Make, type and year of manufacture
  • Cutting capacity, level of automation and control
  • Condition notes on band guides, hydraulics and material feed
  • Photos: nameplate, overall view, saw head with band, control panel and material feed
  • If you have them: maintenance log, manual or wiring diagram, and the date of the last band or guide change

The process

  1. You send the data and photos.
  2. The offer usually follows 24–48 hours on working days after we have all the details.
  3. Direct purchase: bank transfer before pickup; no machine leaves your site without confirmed payment. We organise dismantling and transport; the offer states upfront whether those costs are included.

An urgent on-site visit takes place, usually within 48 to 72 hours on working days. The whole process usually takes 7 to 15 working days on a direct purchase. Sale through our buyer network: commission stated upfront; you are paid before pickup.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you buy both horizontal and vertical band saws?

Yes, both designs. Horizontal band saws dominate high-volume cutting of round and square sections, while vertical band saws suit freehand and contour cuts. We buy your band saw, whichever design it is.

What is a mitre band saw, and do you buy those too?

A mitre band saw has a swivelling saw head for angled cuts instead of cutting only at 90 degrees to the material. Yes, we buy mitre band saws. The swivel range and the repeatability of the angle setting are additional value factors.

What information do you need to assess my band saw?

Make and type, year of manufacture, cutting capacity, level of automation, and details on the band guides, band tension and material feed. Photos of the nameplate, saw head and material feed speed up the estimate.

Do you buy fully automatic band saws?

Yes. Fully automatic band saws with a programmable sawing cycle are in demand for series cutting and are valued accordingly. Level of automation is one of the strongest value factors for band saws.

What lowers the value of a used band saw the most?

Worn band guides without documented replacement, leaking or sluggish hydraulics, and a missing or faulty material feed on a machine that was originally automated. The condition of the blade itself matters less, because it is a regular wear part.

Do you buy band saws that are not running?

Yes, as long as the basic machine is sound. A band saw that is out of service or has a minor fault often still has value as a source of spare parts or after a manageable repair. Describe the condition honestly with photos and we assess it case by case.

Do you organise dismantling and transport of my band saw?

Yes. We organise dismantling and transport. Whether those costs are included is stated in the offer upfront. Direct purchase: bank transfer before pickup; no machine leaves your site without confirmed payment.

How do you buy a band saw, and can you also sell it for me?

In a purchase we buy the saw ourselves. On request we also sell it through our buyer network, where we introduce it confidentially to a buyer. Sale through our buyer network: commission stated upfront; you are paid before pickup. We settle the route with you at the initial estimate.
