Sell your DMG MORI CTX: from compact lathe to full turn-mill center

The CTX line spans from a compact turning center to a full turn-mill machining center (CTX TC) — the value range is correspondingly wide. As a direct buyer with no financing contingency, we assess your CTX precisely and buy with no commission: first assessment, payment before pickup.

Value factors by version

ConfigurationSetupWhat mainly determines the value
CTX beta, base variantPlain turning, 2-axisBuild year, control, spindle hours, condition
CTX beta, with Y-axisY-axis, live toolingY-axis and live tooling, control, maintenance records
CTX gamma, with sub-spindleY-axis, sub-spindleTurning length, sub-spindle, bar feeder, condition
CTX gamma TC / CTX beta TCTurn-mill with full B-axisB-axis, control generation, documentation

For the CTX versions we have no reliable public price range: listings on used-machine marketplaces vary widely with build year, operating hours and equipment. Value is set by build year, control, spindle hours and equipment. Our valuation logic: What is my CNC machine worth?

What determines the price of your CTX

  • Configuration: Plain turning vs. Y-axis + live tooling vs. CTX TC with a full B-axis (turn-mill) — the largest single price spread. A CTX TC with a full B-axis enables complete machining in a single setup and appeals to a more demanding, higher-paying buyer segment than a plain turning center of the same frame size.
  • Size: Turning length and swing diameter (beta vs. gamma) — the gamma line handles heavier, larger workpieces and tends to achieve higher prices for comparable equipment.
  • Equipment: A sub-spindle for back-side machining without re-fixturing, a bar feeder for unattended production, turret/magazine capacity, a tailstock for long shaft parts.
  • Control and condition: Sinumerik/CELOS generation, spindle hours, documented maintenance — on multitasking configurations, control generation matters especially, since buyers depend on modern CAM connectivity.

Typical buyers of a used CTX

Plain CTX beta turning centers mostly find buyers among mid-size machine shops producing classic turned parts in volume. CTX gamma models with a sub-spindle appeal to shops that need to machine more complex shaft parts without re-fixturing. CTX TC turn-mill centers mostly find buyers among shops that need to fully machine complex workpieces in a single setup and therefore require the full B-axis functionality.

Preparation: what speeds up the sale

  • Document the configuration clearly: confirm Y-axis, sub-spindle, B-axis (TC), and bar feeder individually — these features determine which price category your CTX falls into.
  • Photos of the turret and headstock: show condition and equipment at a glance.
  • Have spindle hours and maintenance records ready: a key price factor, especially on multitasking configurations.
  • Note the control version: state the Sinumerik version or CELOS build level precisely.

How we value your CTX

When valuing a CTX, we first check the base configuration — plain turning, Y-axis, or TC with B-axis — because it sets the price category before year and condition even come into play. Within that category, we compare your details against current market prices for comparable CTX configurations. For multitasking variants (CTX TC), how well the machine is documented also factors in: a factory certificate or a current inspection report speeds up the valuation — something we already account for in the first assessment.

How the sale works

  1. Send data and photos. Model (beta/gamma/TC), year, control, spindle hours, and equipment, plus three to five photos. Under ten minutes by email, WhatsApp, or our form.
  2. Valuation. We check current market prices for your CTX configuration and get back to you with a no-obligation first assessment.
  3. Offer, payment, pickup. If the numbers work, our offer follows. Payment before pickup; we organize disassembly and transport wherever the machine is located.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which CTX models do you buy?

The entire CTX line: CTX beta (e.g., 800, 1250), CTX gamma (e.g., 2000, 3000), and the CTX TC turn-mill variants with a full B-axis. Plain turning centers as well as turn-mill centers, with Sinumerik/CELOS control. Tell us the model, year, spindle hours, and equipment.

What determines the value of a CTX?

Turning length and swing diameter, whether it has a Y-axis, a sub-spindle, live tooling, and — on the TC models — a full B-axis for simultaneous turn-milling. Also control generation, spindle hours, bar feeder, and maintenance condition. Turn-mill configurations achieve the highest prices.

Is a CTX TC worth more than a plain lathe?

Generally yes. The TC variants with B-axis and milling capability enable complete machining in a single setup and appeal to a more demanding buyer segment — that noticeably raises resale value compared to a plain turning center of the same size.

How does the sale work?

Send us the model, year, control, spindle hours, and photos — valuation, then an offer, payment before pickup. We organize disassembly and transport, wherever your machine is located.

What's the difference between CTX beta and CTX gamma?

CTX beta covers the more compact frame sizes, CTX gamma the larger turning lengths and swing diameters for heavier workpieces. Both lines come as plain turning centers as well as with a Y-axis and sub-spindle; for comparable equipment, the gamma line tends to achieve higher prices thanks to its larger working range.

Do you also buy older CTX models with Sinumerik but without CELOS?

Yes. Even with an older Sinumerik control and no CELOS interface, a well-maintained CTX has an active secondary market — the price is below that of a CELOS machine of the same year, but an offer is almost always possible.
