Asking prices on Maschinensucher (as of October 2026), not sale prices; partly negotiable. The actual value depends on year, control, equipment, bar capacity and spindle hours. Our valuation logic: What is my CNC machine worth?

What determines the price of your ST

  • Model size: Chuck size and bar capacity (Big Bore) determine workpiece size and therefore the buyer pool — larger models appeal to shops turning heavier parts and command correspondingly higher prices.
  • Y-axis and live tooling: Driven tools enable complete machining in a single setup — the single largest premium over the plain 2-axis base variant, because buyers can cover milling operations without a second machine.
  • Control: Haas NGC (current) versus the Classic generation — NGC offers faster processing and a larger touchscreen, which shows up in resale value.
  • Condition: Spindle hours, documented maintenance, bar feeder, chip conveyor — on a machine this widely deployed, documentation often determines price more than year of manufacture alone.

Typical buyers of a Haas ST

Plain 2-axis ST models without a Y-axis mostly find buyers among smaller job shops and workshops producing standard turned parts in modest volumes. ST-Y models with live tooling appeal to mid-size machine shops that need complete machining without a second machine — this buyer segment is willing to pay a noticeable premium for the added capability. Big Bore variants in the ST-40 class go mostly to shops working with larger-diameter bar stock, such as plant engineering or special-purpose machine builders.

Preparation: what speeds up the sale

  • Document the configuration clearly: state Y-axis, live tooling, and bar capacity precisely — these features determine the price category.
  • Photos of the turret and headstock: show equipment and condition at a glance.
  • Note the control version: NGC or Classic, including software level if known.
  • Have maintenance records ready: gives buyers confidence for a prompt offer.

How we value your ST

When valuing an ST, we first check the configuration — plain 2-axis or ST-Y with live tooling — because it determines the price category before year and condition even come into play. We then check current market prices for that configuration before factoring in the remaining details. For Big Bore variants, the enlarged bar capacity is factored in separately, since it widens the buyer pool to shops working with larger bar stock.

How the sale works

  1. Send data and photos. Model, year, NGC or Classic control, equipment, and three to five photos. Under ten minutes by email, WhatsApp, or our form.
  2. Valuation. We check current market prices for your ST configuration and get back to you with a no-obligation first assessment.
  3. Offer, payment, pickup. If the numbers work, our offer follows. Payment before pickup; we organise disassembly and transport wherever the machine is located.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Haas ST models do you buy?

The entire ST line: from the ST-10/ST-15 through the ST-20/ST-25/ST-30 to the ST-35/ST-40 and larger, including Big Bore and Y-axis (ST-Y) variants with live tooling. With Haas NGC or Classic control. Tell us the model, year, and spindle hours.

What determines the value of a Haas ST?

Chuck size and bar capacity (Big Bore), whether it has a Y-axis and live tooling for complete machining, the control generation (NGC vs. Classic), spindle hours, bar feeder, and condition. Y-axis models with live tooling command significantly higher prices than plain 2-axis lathes.

Is it worth selling an older Haas ST?

Generally yes. Thanks to the very large installed base, demand for used Haas turning centers is high and stable — even older, well-maintained machines find a buyer quickly. If there are defects, scrap/parts value still applies.

How does the sale work?

Send data and photos, get a valuation, receive an offer, get paid before pickup. We organise disassembly and transport, wherever your machine is located.

What is Big Bore, and why does it increase value?

Big Bore refers to an enlarged spindle bore that accommodates larger bar stock. This configuration widens the machine's application range for buyers in high-volume production and is valued higher than the standard-bore variant of the same frame size.

Do you also buy an ST without live tooling, in base configuration?

Yes. Even the plain 2-axis base configuration without driven tools has an active market thanks to Haas's wide availability. The price is below that of a Y-axis/live-tooling variant, but an offer is almost always possible.
